ThredUp Goody Box Review

Updated: Aug 5, 2020

I have been wanting to order a ThredUp Goody Box since they first came out, but could never find the courage to take the plunge. That was until about a week and a half ago...I took the “style” quiz, chose what type of clothing items I was looking for, and then hit that submit button. A couple of days ago, this super cute teal polka dot box showed up on my doorstep.

If you don’t know what ThredUp is, it is basically like an online thrift store. All of the items on their website are secondhand, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t good quality or some top brand names. They carry everything from H&M to Kate Spade to Ulla Johnson.

The GoodyBox option is a service where they send you 10 to 15 pieces of clothing, you decide what you want to keep, and then send the rest back. You will only be charged for what you keep. You don’t have to pay for shipping, but there is an initial styling fee of $10 which will be then applied to the items you keep. So let’s get into what I received, what I’m keeping, and what I will be sending back!

What I’m keeping

Pilcro + The Letterpress Flare Jeans

ThredUp Price: $28.99

Retail Price: $167.00

Rating: 5/5

I was honestly so surprised that these even fit (okay they’re a little snug, but that’s okay)! I was okay with keeping them, despite the price, because they made me feel GOOD. Honestly, I loved the way my butt looked in them and I love the button fly detailing.

Rachel Zoe Sleeveless Linen Top

ThredUp Price: $47.99

Retail Price: $265.00

Rating: 4/5

The price tag on this one blew my mind, and not in a good way (yikes!). I wasn’t going to keep it, but then I put it on with the jeans and was instantly in love. The top is 100% linen which is one of my favorite fabrics for the summertime and it is super sustainable. I knew that if I passed on this piece that I would regret it, and I know I’m definitely going to get my money’s worth!

What I’m NOT keeping

Papermoon Short Sleeve Blouse

ThredUp Price: $39.00

Retail Price: $54.00

Rating: 2/5

I could not justify the price on this top at all based on its retail price. The pattern was kind of weird looking and hurt my eyes to look at lol. I also did not enjoy the fabric either, which kind of scratched my skin when I tried it on. Not a fan.

Lija Short Sleeve Yellow Top

ThredUp Price: $35.00

Retail Price: $77.00

Rating: 3/5

To be quite honest, I did not understand this shirt. It felt like it was made for the later 2000s. I didn’t mind the color though!

Pilcro + The Letterpress Star Jeans

ThredUp Price: $31.99

Retail Price: $130.00

Rating: 2/5

If you watched my IGTV, you would know that I LOVED these when I first saw them. When I tried them on…. That was a whole different story. They fit SO different from the other pairs of denim from this brand in my GoodyBox. They weren’t flattering.

Ellison Dressy Shorts

ThredUp Price: $28.99

Retail Price: $36.00

Rating: 1/5

These didn’t fit…. AT ALL. It was kind of funny when I tried to put them on and they didn’t even zip. I would never have even thought to look for these in a store, so definitely not for me and they will be going back to ThredUp.

Pilcro + The Letterpress Denim Shorts

ThredUp Price: $28.99

Retail Price: $125.00

Rating: 2/5

My first impression when I pulled these shorts out of the box was, “What the F*CK are these!?”. After I tried them on, I thought the same exact thing. They fit nice, but the length of the shorts was just so awkward.

Lucky Brand Sleeveless Top

ThredUp Price: $49.99

Retail Price: $80.00

Rating: 2/5

The price for this top was just mind-boggling to me. I could probably find something from Lucky Brand just like this top at my local Goodwill for less than $10.

Lucky Brand Boho Dress

ThredUp Price: $29.99

Retail Price: $108.00

Rating: 3/5

This dress looked so cute when I pulled it out of the box, but after I tried it on, I knew this wasn’t for me. I don’t know if it’s the way the dress was made or my particular body shape, but it did not look flattering at all. I wish it fit!

CAbi Black Sleeveless Top

ThredUp Price: $29.99

Retail Price: $84.00

Rating: 2/5

I really can’t justify $30 for a plain black tank top. The top also looked like it was fraying and also had a pinhole in it. Not impressed with this one.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience with the ThredUp Goody Box. I thought it was super interesting and fun to see what someone else picked out for me based on a questionnaire. Some things I didn’t understand were the price points. How is a Lucky Brand tank top more expensive than a dress from the same brand?

I would love if the prices were listed along with a picture of the item. It was kind of hard to distinguish what price was for what, especially when it came to the jeans since they were all from Pilcro + The Letterpress. Will I try this box again? Probably, honestly, but not for a while.

I would love to hear about your experience with ThredUp or your thoughts on what I received. Leave them in a comment below.
